The Pregnancy Resource Center of Maryville hosted their Annual Fundraising Banquet on August 24th at the Knoxville Airport Hilton. The event was a great success. Not only was the Executive Director, Valerie Millsapps, able to inform the crowd that the mortgage of the ministry’s building had been retired, the organization also raised an incredible $82,600 more to further its mission.

The banquet also featured the testimony of a survivor of an attempted abortion about her miraculous life and calling to be a voice for the voiceless. According to Millsapps, “We had so many people tell us they were on the edge of their seats waiting for her to say her next part of her story.”

Pregnancy Resource Center exists “to minister to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those facing unplanned pregnancies by offering life-affirming alternatives to abortion, to promote God’s plan for sexual purity, and offer God’s restoration to those who are hurting from past abortions.”

Founded in 1986, the center provides “caring, compassionate, and confidential” pregnancy services free of charge to women and men at the Maryville center on 3028 Old Niles Ferry Road.

They also recently dedicated their new Mobile Medical Unit, named “Annalee.” The Mobile Medical Unit will travel to surrounding communities in order to offer pregnancy resource services to those who might not otherwise visit the Maryville center. They were joined by the family after whom “Annalee” was named and other supporters at the Blount Chamber on September 19th for a ribbon cutting.

In 2016, Pregnancy Resource Center had 975 appointments. With the funds raised at the banquet and the Mobile Medical Unit in the field, they hope to drastically increase their reach and impact. For more information, visit their main website.
