CityHouse Delray Beach is a Christian non-profit organization working “to bring hope and renewal to homeless single mothers and their children.” The vision was cast in 2013, and in 2014 CityHouse welcomed their first resident family. They now have six apartments and serve at capacity.

According to statistics, 30% of children in foster homes would not need foster care if their birth parents were sufficiently housed. CityHouse prevents the need for children to be separated from their parents by providing single mothers a two-year residential program with “case management, accountability, educational opportunities, support, and encouragement.”

So far, they have seen great results. One former resident is the manager of a local business and is on her way to owning her own home. A current resident is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Looking to the future, Executive Director Lisa Wanamaker and her staff hope to open a thrift store and expand services by opening a second location to house a total of ten families at once.
